Stubborn Defenders
HOW TO PAINT WARRIORS OF ARNOR

All that remains of the once-proud armies of Arnor, these warriors are, by necessity, veterans of wars with Angmar, though their spirit is all but broken. The Warriors of Arnor are a match for almost anything the Witch-king can muster against them.

Follow the detailed instructions below and check out the stage-by-stage images for reference as you paint your models. Don't fret if the model doesn't come out picture-perfect in the end; painting takes time and practice to master. Just do the best you can each time and be open to learning new techniques from others. Before you know it, you'll be quite an accomplished painter with models you'll be proud field on the tabletop!

1

Undercoat the miniature with Chaos Black Spray Paint. Then, basecoat the face with Dwarf Flesh. Paint the tunic, shield, and headband with Dark Angels Green. Next, paint the leggings with Chaos Black.

2

Paint the armour, helmet, shield, and spear tip Chainmail. Next, paint the belt, boots, gloves, and tabard Scorched Brown. If you get any paint on the Chainmail, you can just repaint over it. Then, paint Vermin Brown on the haft of the spear. Make sure you change your water after switching from metallics, as they leave behind small metal flecks in the water that will show up in the regular colours.

3

Once the paint has dried from the previous step, paint a watered-down wash of Black Ink over all the Chainmail areas. Next, paint watered-down Flesh Wash over the Dwarf Flesh. It's important to let your first ink wash dry before applying another. Otherwise, they may bleed into each other and ruin the effect. Finally, paint Shining Gold on the belt buckle and the end of the scabbard.

4

Now, use an even mix of Dark Angels Green and Goblin Green to highlight the tunic and shield. Paint a highlight of Elf Flesh on the face. Using a Fine Detail Brush, paint Bleached Bone on the spear haft. Highlight the armour, helmet, and spear point with Mithril Silver. Also use Mithril Silver to paint the details on the shield.

5

Highlight the black leggings with Codex Grey. Then, highlight the gloves, boots, and scabbard with an even mix of Bleached Bone and Scorched Brown. Lastly, paint an even mix of Elf Flesh and Skull White on the face.
