Took, 'the Bullroarer' defeats an
Orc raid in the Northfarthing. Bullroarer later

under critiscm from the head of the Sackville family,
who claims that the Orcish threat was, at the

least, misrepresented and, at best, misrepresented. |

The Long Winter. Orc raids, poor
weather and a poorer harvest condemn many in the
Shire to death from starvation. At this time, Gandalf
the Grey first comes to the aid of the Shire. |

The Fell Winter. Many rivers in
Eriador are frozen solid by the extreme cold. Driven
south by hunger, the White Wargs of Forochel come
south and attack the Shire. Gandalf once more intervenes
to safeguard the Hobbits. |

The Lhûn and Baranduin
rivers,
swollen by the spring thaw, burst their banks and
flood parts of both Southfarthing and Westfarthing. |

The Quest of Erebor. The Battle
of Five Armies. Bilbo Baggins finds the One Ring
after meeting a creature called Gollum deep within
the Misty Mountains. |

Saruman notes Gandalf’s interest
in the Shire. The white wizard’s agents begin
to appear in Bree and the Southfarthing. |

Frodo and his companions set out
from the Shire to Rivendell. The Fellowship of the
Ring is formed and leaves Rivendell late in the
year. |

|
The War of the Ring. Frodo reaches
Orodruin, the One Ring is unmade and Sauron is overthrown.
The Scouring of the Shire and the Battle of Bywater.
Frodo becomes mayor of Hobbiton. |
1420
|
The great year of plenty. Samwise
Gamgee marries Rosie Cotton. Frodo resigns the office
of mayor which passes to Samwise Gamgee. |
1421
|
Frodo travels to the Grey Havens
and there takes the last ship into the West alongside
Gandalf and Bilbo. |
