The Two Towers is the second part of the continuing quest to destroy the Dark Lord's Ring of Power. Though the Fellowship has come to an end, its members scattered far and wide, each remain true to their companions and the freedom of Middle-earth. While Frodo and Sam must make their way to the Black Gate of Mordor alone, Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli pursue Saruman's Uruk-hai across the plains of Rohan, hoping to rescue Merry and Pippin. Finding themselves at the Golden Hall of Edoras, new alliances are forged with King Théoden, Lord of the Riddermark, as open war comes to Middle-earth, culminating in the siege of Helm's Deep.
"Dark have been my dreams of late, I feel as one new-awakened."
- King Théoden,
The Two Towers.
