Council of the Wise
MASTERCLASS PAINTING TIPS FOR THE WHITE COUNCIL

The Necromancer's hold on the forest of Mirkwood can be only tenuous at best with the White Council hot on his heels. Such a bold group of heroes deserves a little extra attention when it comes to painting! Nathan Bishop and Jake Landis give you a few masterclass ideas here.

The White Council face a line of Castellans and Trolls.

Combining the wisdom of the finest minds in Middle-earth with the martial skill of the Elves, the White Council is Sauron's chief opponent in the middle years of the Third Age. Primarily concerned with thwarting the Dark Lord in his efforts to regain power, the eyes and ears of this august body extend into all areas where Sauron does not yet hold total sway. Caution is the chief watchword of the White Council, for they choose to work in secret, and thus out of Sauron's sight, for as long as they may. Even so, wars cannot be won solely through guile and knowledge – sooner or later, keen blades must act where subtlety cannot.

- Fall of the Necromancer, p. 36

The White Council is at the core of those who would resist the Necromancer in the depths of Mirkwood. Powerful in its own right, the Council also has the ability to rally the available forces of Good to defeat Sauron's minions. Thus, it makes sense that these important heroes of Middle-earth deserve a little extra attention when it comes time to paint them.

NOTE: Not all of the miniatures featured in this article are included in the new White Council Boxed Set, however, every Hero in this gallery is part of the White Council list presented in the Fall of the Necromancer sourcebook.
