The Elvish members of the White Council have several magical powers that would merit spell markers. We focused on Lineage of the Firstborn, but this type of marker could have easily represented Aura of Dismay or Aura of Command for Círdan, or War Aspect for Galadriel. All of these spells can make or break a battle, so you really don't want to forget them! To make this marker, find some translucent plastic sheeting, preferably pre-dyed (we used the cover material from an old spiral notebook). Cut out two burst shapes, one slightly larger than the other. You can shade them with inks before you assemble them to get a more interesting look while maintaining the transparency. Add some Green Stuff to a 40-mm base (leave space for a 25-mm base) and press in the bursts so they overlap.

Though Thranduil's Circlet of Kings is more wargear than magical power, it allows him to cast Aura of Dismay once per game. This area-of-effect spell can turn the tide for Thranduil and his Wood Elves. Though we tried to install a holographic projector in this marker, we had to use digital imagery tricks to make that picture on the intro page with the glowing, ethereal ring (sorry kids, it's not real). Still, you can make this evocative marker for the Circlet from a hose end cap that you can find in most plumbing or gardening sections of your local hardware store. Make sure to take a 25-mm round base with you to the store to test the fit before you buy – the base should fit snuggly, but without jamming. Cover up any texture on the cap with Green Stuff (we hid the cross-hatching with two rounded, raised edges). Glue it to a 40-mm round base and flock and paint as normal.
