Warhammer World has recently hosted the UK 's Warhammer 40,000 Doubles Tournament, where teams came to battle for the accolade of Best General. With 107 teams registered, this promised to be an exciting event. The standard of gaming was extremely high as 214 players went for the top spot using some very lethal combinations of allied forces.

Doubles events differ from other tournaments, in the fact that they operate on a team basis. This is a unique type of event in the fact that it creates a very relaxed gaming atmosphere, where players can take breaks during a game while their partner carries on without affecting the game itself.

However, as players can pair up, this allows the creation of some interesting combinations of armies, and also challenges players to deal with a wider variety of armies during the weekend. This leads to a fun event with a relaxed atmosphere which is laced with a strong sense of competition.

The standard of painting seen on the day continued to surprise and delight both player and onlooker alike with the dedication and level of skill that had gone into their chosen armies.

Every type of pairing possible was seen on the day, from father and son teams, husbands and wives, as well as pairs from gaming clubs. Many thanks to everyone who entered, without whom the event wouldn't have been possible.
