126 players, each with two forces (one Good and one Evil), played through four different scenarios that tested their abilities to design an army for all possibilities.
Adam Troke, a well known member of Games Workshop's Design Team took part using two forces that raised a few eyebrows, as both of his forces combined numbered only 12 miniatures! Although this gave him some mighty heroes to fight with, Adam found himself coming up short-handed in some of the scenarios.
In the end, despite the best efforts of all his opponents, Vesa Nenye once again walked away as the victor. But this was a deserved victory as he also received the rarely awarded Most Sporting Opponent Award for helping a fellow player in the first round to correct his army list, then loan him the models to make it work, and also for supporting the event as a whole by helping to locate a spare player when required. My thanks and congratulations to Vesa for his exemplary behaviour.
Stephen Morgan and Ed Ball were neck and neck at the finish, tied for second place. But finally, it was Stephen's greater gaming points accrued over the weekend that placed him ahead in the standings. I wish them both luck in trying to make ground on Vesa at next year's The Lord of the Rings Grand Tournament.
Over lunch on day one, the players' armies, having been gathered from all corners of Middle-earth were laid out on display, of which the five very best were short-listed for an open vote by all the players for the Best Army award. The winner was the talented Nick Bayton, from our Warhammer World store who was overjoyed to win this award for the first time. You can see Nick's award winning forces on display in the cabinets at Warhammer World.
It was great to see so many The Lord of the Rings players taking part in Warhammer World, many being regular Grand Tournament attendees. But for still more, this event marked their first steps into the world of tournaments. All played with excellent spirit that created a fantastic atmosphere across the whole weekend.
