GRAND TOURNAMENT FINAL - JULY 28TH AND 29TH 2001
Page: 1
The Warhammer Grand Tournament 2001, which took place on the weekend of 28/29 July, was the smoothest, biggest and boldest tournament we've ever seen at Games Workshop HQ. Thanks to the new rules the Tournament Judges had to make very few official decisions. Over 200 competitors from all over the world, some even as far away as New Zealand, the USA and Denmark, competed over five games and a new Champion was found!
The Grand Tournament kicked off at 8am on Saturday with an excited roar of competitive noise, and was unrelenting all weekend. Having drunk Bugman's dry on Saturday, the competitors were back in earnest the next morning to battle through a second intensely fun day. At the end we had the following heroes to announce to the world:
1st Place : Geoff Poritt
2nd Place : Robert Lane
3rd Place : John Dale
Most Sporting Player : Alan Thompson
Best General : Andrew Stevenson
Best Army : Jeppe Danning, with his Lizardmen army
Many thanks to all of the competitors and staff who worked so hard to make it a great time for all, and a terrific "well done" to all the victors!
Stayed tuned for further updates on the whole tournament over the next few weeks including full reports from the Warhammer Players Society and White Dwarf!
