Well, two heats gone, one to go. This heat had a large number of veteran tournament players which made it a real challenge for all involved. So much so that we had to let 55 players, more than any heat in the last two years, qualify from heat two.
Many of the players were surprised to see the Empire coming top of the pile – I guess Adam Stalwood proved his skill, taking them to the heady heights of first place. Congratulations also go to Michael Biggs and Keith Wilkinson for being close on Adam's heels in second and third.
Good sportsmanship was in evidence right from the word go as
a player from Kent arrived realising he'd left his army at home. Scott
Miskin jumped in to help and drove home to collect his spare army, and
it was this unselfish act that earned him the Most Sporting award, many thanks
to Scott for his assistance.
There were also some fantastic armies on display and it was the small
French contingent that proved to be above the rest, with Franck Labrune
taking the award for Best Army.
The third heat is a sellout, so we expect it to be even more challenging than the first two. Then the Final looms in February 2006 – the quest for the Overall Champion is almost complete.
Good luck to all qualifiers in the final in February 2006. For those who didn't qualify, better luck next year.
