KILL-TEAM THE SPACE HULK WAY
If you just want to get a small taste of Space Hulk in your Kill-team missions, then the modifications below are all you need to get Terminators and Genestealers into the thick of it.

Based on the penalties from the Kill-team rules, a standard Terminator squad breaks one immutable law and gives the Brute player a lot of extra points to spend on a Boss. However, the old Space Hulk game didn't have any Bosses in the regular missions, so it didn't make sense for the Tyranids to have one under these simple mods.
Instead, we make up for that by adding even more Genestealers to the mix! Check out the chart below to see how many Terminators and Genestealer Brute squads (3 Genestealers in each squad, like any other Brute squad) to field.

Terminators. One of the immutable laws of Kill-team states that models may not have a 2+ Save of any kind. This law seems to preclude taking Terminators in a Kill-team, but fear not. "Immutable" does not mean "unbreakable" in the Kill-team rules - you just need your opponent's permission (which you should already have if you two agree to play with these rules), and you pay a penalty in the terms of advantages for the Genestealers. Use the Terminator squad profile from p. 31 of Codex: Space Marines for your Terminator characteristics. Select one of the three Terminator Kill-team rosters from the chart above.
Genestealers. In the normal Kill-team system, the standard Tyranid Brute squad is made of Termagants. Obviously, we're swapping out the Termagants for Genestealers for these modifications. Use the Genestealer profile on p. 39 of Codex: Tyranids for your Genestealer characteristics. Note that the Genestealers will always have the standard rending claw profile - no biomorphs or other enhancements. The Brute squad player gets the number of squads listed in the chart above based on what the Space Marine player takes.
2. CHOOSE OBJECTIVE
The missions on pages 220-221 of the revised Warhammer 40,000 rulebook can all work as Space Hulk-like missions. The real trick to getting the feel of the old boxed game (other than the force selection) is how you set up the Kill-team battlefield. The table shown below (click the image to see a larger version) is from p. 228 of the 40K rulebook and would be perfect for these Space Hulk Kill-team games.

The US Hobby Team made this table, and though it looks complicated, you'd be surprised what you can do with a little plasticard and left-over mechanical items. With the help of your gaming crew, you could probably put together a table like this in a matter of a few nights.
There is an article on how to construct this table on the American Games Workshop site in Black Gobbo 17.
3. CHOOSE STORYLINE
Coming up with a storyline for your Space Hulk Kill-team games should be easy - there's so much great narrative out there already, and you have such a cool setting in the first place! For "Sabotage," you can say the Terminators have to destroy the hulk's launch control room. For "Assassinate," you can say the Kill-team must kill a Broodlord that has just come out of stasis and is disoriented enough to have the target's profile. You get the idea - just let your imagination run wild.
TAKE IT TO THE NEXT LEVEL
For most Warhammer 40,000 fans, the Kill-team modifications above will be plenty for them to get their Terminators and Genestealers into some fun Space Hulk skirmishes. However, for those ambitious or nostalgic players out there, we've got some more advanced modifications later in this article that will get you closer to the Space Hulk of old.
First, however, check out our Space Hulk terrain section. Here, we show you how to make modular, three-dimensional terrain that you can use for both the simple modifications above and the more advanced ones you'll read about later.
