Winter of Woe
A WOOD ELVES HISTORICAL CAMPAIGN

The woodland realm of Athel Loren claims more than just the souls of trespassers. The forest treats the laying of stone or lumber within its borders as an equivalent offence. Though many have been attempted, no structure can stand against the rage of the woods.

Black Orc

Long ago, exactly 1,125 years before Sigmar's coronation, the Wood Elves of Athel Loren faced a threat unlike any they had seen before or since. A massive horde of Orcs and Goblins descended upon the Elf-inhabited forest in the dead of winter, their Greenskin hearts bent on pillage and destruction. Though the Wood Elves were certain of their doom upon seeing these nigh-unstoppable aggressors, it seemed that the ancient spirits of the forest had other ideas. This "Winter of Woe" would turn out to be one of the turning points in the history of the Wood Elves.

This series of five scenarios allows you to relive the battles that took place during the Wood Elves' Winter of Woe. You can play these scenarios separately – each one will give you a fun context for a game of Warhammer. Or, you can play these scenarios as a part of a linked campaign.

LINKED CAMPAIGN

Linked campaigns add another layer of excitement to scenarios because more than just honour hangs on victory or defeat. The results of each game affect how you begin the next scenario. If you win one game, chances are you'll be at an advantage in the next and vice versa. Check each scenario for instructions on how to incorporate it into the linked campaign as a whole.

NO ORCS? NO PROBLEM

If you don't happen to have an Orc army on hand, you'll find that it's easy to substitute any other Warhammer army to act as the aggressor in these scenarios. You can even pit "bad" Wood Elves against your defender Wood Elves. However, for these games to fit the background story, the defending army should be Wood Elves.

Speaking of the story, let's take a look at the tale of the Winter of Woe from the Wood Elf Army book.
